Adult leagues: the six facts players check before they sign up, and where to put them

Adult leagues are the most-used directory on SoccerMapd. A player who wants a Tuesday night 7v7 coed league does not want a list of every league in town; they want the ones that answer six questions. Leagues that carry the answers show up when players filter. Leagues with a name and an address do not.

The six facts

1. What format. 5v5, 6v6, 7v7, 8v8, 9v9, 11v11 or futsal, and whether it is indoor, outdoor or both.
2. Who plays. Divisions (coed, men’s, women’s, open, over 30, over 40, over 50) and levels (recreational, intermediate, competitive).
3. Which night. Game days and the kickoff window, such as 7:00 to 9:30 pm.
4. When it starts. The season name, its first game day, and the day registration closes.
5. What it costs. The team price and the per-player price, as you publish them.
6. Can I join alone. Whether free agents can sign up without a team.

Each fact is stored as a fixed value, not free text, which is what makes the filters work. “Co-Ed”, “coed” and “Co-ed (rec)” all land on the same chip.

How players use them

The adult league page for each city has chips for format, division and game night. Tap 7v7 and Tuesday and the list narrows to the leagues that said so. Each league card shows its facts in one line, and the registration deadline is called out when it is near. A league whose facts are current is the one a player can act on tonight.

If you also run indoor sessions, open play or a pickup night, list those too. They are their own categories, indoor soccer and pickup soccer, with their own city pages. A pickup night you run on a fixed date can also be posted as a Pickup Game event, which puts it in the events browser for that week.
