An atlas of the American game

The American
soccer pyramid.

Take the game apart. Rotate and explode the pyramid, open a league, and follow a club's crest all the way to its home ground.

Behind the layers

A level of competition.
A place to call home.

Division I: Major League Soccer. Division II: USL Championship. Division III: USL League One and MLS NEXT Pro, at the same level. MLS NEXT Pro clubs are not yet mapped here.

The height of a tier represents its league's division, not a team's results. Use Explode view to separate the sections, then Reassemble pyramid to bring them together. Open a league to browse club crests, then select a club to see its home ground and map location. Winning a lower league does not currently mean promotion into MLS.

This explorer covers the men's outdoor professional structure. Women's leagues, youth academies and amateur competitions have their own structures. USL League Two, NPSL and UPSL belong to the broader amateur and pre-professional landscape; they are not presented as an official Division IV.
